The Achievement Tutoring program was designed by the Arizona Department of Education to provide reading, writing, and math tutoring for students in grades K-12. This program is funded by the State of Arizona making it completely free to parents.
Who can participate?
Students K-12 enrolled in a public school or public charter school (the school must have a rating of C or higher for the student to qualify for the program).
How does it work?
Students attend a six-week tutoring block with 60 minute sessions up to four days per week.
Students attend up to 4 sessions of 1 hour each, for 6 weeks.
Each six week block is focused on one subject: reading, writing or math.
A student can enroll in a one 6 week block for Reading and after completion, they can enroll in another 6 week block for Math.
Attendance is of the utmost importance. If a student misses 2 scheduled tutoring sessions, they are automatically removed from the program.
Students complete a pre- and post-test at the beginning and end of the 6 weeks.
Tutoring sessions are aligned to the Arizona Standards in reading, writing, and math.
For Parents:
Tutoring is completely free to students/parents.
Parents can enroll their child/children to attend a 6 week program at no cost.
Parents can choose to do tutoring at your child's school, online, or at Nogales Tutoring Center.
Parents choose the schedule, the days and times the student will attend tutoring.
In order to make the most of this free tutoring program, parents commit to bringing the student to tutoring up to 4 times a week for 6 weeks.
Parents understand that 2 absences means the student is disqualified from the program, and can only return in the next 6 week session after re-enrolling and getting approval.
Based on teacher recommendation, parents choose the subjects to be tutored (Reading, Writing or Math)
Parents contact Nogales Tutoring Center at (520) 223-9119 to fill out their application.
Parents must provide the State Student Identification Number (8 digit number provided by the school)
